Texas jugglefest 2019
« on: February 24, 2019, 12:47:15 AM »

The forum was represented at the Austin jugglefest with 4 members present:

From left to right, Owen, Lynn, ta0 and Alan.

It was sunny and 75F/24C, so a perfect day to throw tops outside.  :)

Nice to see you folks smiling and spinning tops...and yes, diabolo counts, too!

It looks like a wonderful festival. I have seen other posts online from the juggling community. I was very interested to see a machine that taped the handles of juggling clubs! This would be a great thing to make.

I was in Austin a few weeks too early.  Rats.  Looks like a happy group that had a great time.

I hope you did what you could to "keep the weird in Austin", as they say!!!

I could only be there for Saturday. Sunday I returned to Austin but to see Corteo by Cirque du Soleil. There is a juggling act in Corteo but the juggling on the jugglefest Public Show was even more impressive  :o By the way, Justin Weber was in the Public Show doing yo-yos. Jonathan Root from the Rootberry duo was supposedly the MC of the Renegade show but I didn't meet him. It would have been nice to get a picture of him with Figaro (assuming he does throw tops like his juggling partner Bill).

Alan visited Daxi last summer at my request. Unfortunately the spintop school was on vacation and he could not meet any players. He thinks the best time to go would be October, when there is a spintop festival. He will call the school when it's in session to find out more.

I threw tops at the RIT Juggle-In one year with one half of Team Rootberry.  Nice guy, bald with a mustache, if I recall correctly.  What was interesting to me was that he did several spin top tricks that were in the intermediate difficulty range, but seemed completely unaware of many simple tricks, like sky rocket and wire walker.

We spent quite a while throwing together, and I greatly enjoyed his company....
