Video from Colombian player Jeisson
« on: January 30, 2010, 05:19:26 PM »

I believe we already saw Jeisson Patiño on the Duncan tour video. He is from Bogotá, Colombia, and plays with plastic tops like ours instead of the traditional large wooden Colombian tops.

I really like the "magnet" trick. Several years ago I worked on fixed-tip grinds on a stretched string, but it is not easy to keep it for two full turns of the body.

It is a slick video and the fact that he translated the names to English shows that he aimed for an international audience. My guess is that it has to do with his meeting with Takeshi. By the way, by Prospect Lift he probably meant Prospector Lift.

According to the guy who posted the video on the saturnotruco.com forum, Jeisson is using a "Cobra Pather" (panther?) made in Colombia.

new 2012 Video from Colombian player Jeisson

Jeisson Patiño has a new effort presented here in his smooth style.  There is a nice Matt Ritter-like intentional bounce trapeze catch and a great non-button hand snap start to make many of us jealous.  I guess these are the standard Trompos Pather tops similar in size to the Cometa and other Mexican tops but to me he somehow makes them look larger--like Jumbo sized. ???

Wow! I am impressed! He has some original moves and in general the tricks are more difficult than on the first video.

The first trick is close to one I have tried without success before: going down corkscrew on one arm and up with staircase to heaven on the other one.  The trick he does is not the same but still made my jaw drop when I saw it.
Yes, the bounce reminded me of Matt. That is not a Mexican or Colombian traditional trick, so it shows he is pushing the envelope. Jeisson would be a good player to have at worlds.

Some newly posted footage from 2010.  Selecting mute on the sound may enhance the experience for some.

and some more from the Grupo Internacional Yoyoer - Yoyo Colombia

Thanks for the videos, johnm. I like Luis Celis one-and-a-half minute routine.

I am in contact with Enrique Leal, the promoter from Colombia. He seems very serious about coming this August to worlds and bringing at least one player. Of course, it would be a traditional Colombian style player, using the big wooden tops.

By the way, today I finally received from II an invitation letter I had requested for a Cometa player about 2 months ago.  It is signed by Greg, what I guess is a good sign. And the worlds contest website was updated with a link to the Rosen Plaza hotel registration ($110+tax per night per room).
