salute à tutti

loon plage  has been a great festival!
different from Marines
here in the north of france people are more "rural" more "true"
there is a very strong tradition of wood toys , games played in cafés
"estaminets" , and also because life is rough after the closing of sewing factoties
and coal mines in the 60-70 ties, the rate of unemployment is high,
many older and even younger people live on the dole.... as a result (it's my personal analysis)
this creates more truthfulness in the way people behave, talk , question, get involved
wednesday-thursday schools from all around : over a hundred kids of all ages to hear the stories
of tops told by emmanuel , mermouy and others
friday big snowfall,my train cancelled and rescheduled at noon(..)
saturday sunday a lot of activities and 2 records
precision target with taiwan tops : after elevating the landing zone we ended at 2.25 m (over 7 feet)
corkscrew contest : 22 wraps by Attila (certified by VDOs)

the rest of the acts would need a lot of writing ...
whistling tops , long wirewalker, quentin yoyo ,
reno diabolo , thierry contact , cuper demos "las technicas de trompos",
emmanuel thomas philippe , david and family, mermouy never tired demonstraters,
manu:at the mix
Big Up to DORIAN the main organizer of the festival
greetings to Audrey and Ludovic from the museum of ancient toys
Denys the woodturner : very skilled and a master for pedagogy

and finally

LUDO and Karine and Sham the masters-cards for ANY-THING

the only down side is that we couldn't do the freestyles on music contest*
(despite 8 players ready to groove ) :

signing off

jim

today cuper in paris for one more day
spinning around ????
too many things going on !!

Thanks for a great report! Everything sounds fantastic!

I'm sure throwing Taiwanese top into a 2.25 m platform must have been lots of fun!

Congrats to Attila on that very impressive corkscrew. But I don't know if we should consider it the official record as the one by Tyler was established under the corkscrew contest constrains, which included: "3-consecutive failed attempts you are out until next year."

So, there was no French freestyle contest?

PD: I still haven't done my Marines report . . .  :-[

Here is the video of the corkscrew:

By the way if the rule says this cannot be considered as the world record I'm fine with doing it again next year :D Hopefully more of you will be there to see it ;)

hello again

Jorge wrote " I don't know if we should consider it the official record as the one by Tyler was established under the corkscrew contest constrains, which included: "3-consecutive failed attempts you are out until next year."

it's a different thing : the corkscrew contest with the trophy turned by P Dyon ,was meant to be a special attraction within the world spintop contest ,hence the special rules

to me
ATTILA owns the world record for corkscrew
it meets all requirements :
over 20 people present
uncut video as a proof
the long string itself was braided in front of the audience

BRAVO ATTILA !!
a very skilled player and mature 19 years-old young man

cheers 8)

BRAVO ATTILA !
To me the only difference between this amazing trick and the trophy contest is that in the trophy contest the same string must be used for the entire trick.  I am convinced that Attila could do this with no problem.

Well, that Attila did it on the stage in front of all that people is impressive and we could agree it's a world record, even though the conditions on the trophy contest were more demanding.

But on the last corkscrew contest, in Reykjavik, we tried something different to win the trophy (I don't recall if this was posted before). The challenge was: who could do more consecutive fixed-length corkscrews (I forgot the number of wraps but it was low) from one throw. We thought this made the competition accessible to more people. But we can go back to the record in the future if people are interested.

Thanks for the insights, Jim.  Sounds so great.  And Attila....wonderful work with the corkscrew challenge and wonderful attitude (I'm fine with doing it again next year - with more people).  I am happy to read that everything went so well!!!
