ITSA sponsors small trompo and zaranda festival in Venezuela
« on: April 10, 2017, 07:29:36 PM »

ITSA made a very small contribution to this little festival in Arenita, Guárico, Venezuela (a village 3 hours southeast from Caracas):

In addition, Cuper made a $100 donation plus 200 tops. The festival was in danger of not happening after 6 years because of the situation in Venezuela. Photos from previous festivals on this thread: Zaranda.

Some photos:

(photos uploaded from my phone with the new easy method)

I am very happy that ITSA could help keep this tradition alive. But most of the credit goes to Cuper.

Those are 12 pictures in just one post, so perhaps it could cause a problem, specially with a slower internet connection. But I have not seen any problem.
Remember to click on each picture for a bigger image.

One day I need to get a zaranda and trompo pair. I guess there is a pilgrimage to Venezuela during holly week sometime in my future.  ;)

Here is a video of the women at the festival spinning the zarandas (before the actual contest):

The Dayton Dragons is our local minor league baseball team.  We have some people in our community (actually just a few doors down from my house) who regularly house minor league players (because their pay is so low).  I just found out that this year they have three players from Venezuela!!!  I look forward to meeting them and showing them some of these pictures and videos.  Hopefully they will be able to share with me some of the spinning activities in their country.
