help need to identify top

This is one of the tops that the director picked out ,and I no longer have tag or info where it came from. I know it is not from the USA any thoughts would be appreciated, I have to fill out the info on all tops and this is the only one I do not have info. It is heavy and is about4.5 inches wide and 6 inches tall. Thanks in advance

could be a type of gasing (see below), but the designs carved into it doesnt look right for that at least to me lol.
ive seen a top like that before..........might be african???

I am pretty sure it is a whip top, but I cannot tell you from where. Maybe Lourens can help you.

Indonesian sounds like a good bet.

Hello Michael (?),
I hope i can add some information about your spinning top. As suggested in the forum: indeed it is Indonesian. But to be specific, it is from the Indonesian Archipelago. Probably from Celebes or Borneo. At page 66 - 70 in my book you find more information.
An other reference I have for you is the book: 'Games and dances in Celebes' by Walter Kaudern, volume IV (1929). het wrote the book as a result of his travel to Indonesia.
I add two pictures. One of my top with the similar sizes as your top. And one of the page from my book where these kind op tops are depicted. I hope this information is of any help. Please feel free to ask me more! Kind regards, Lourens.

Wow ! I am impressed with the knowledge I do have your book and I over looked it . you jogged my memory and I remember writing  Borneo on it So the puzzle is solved. thanks everyone and could you tell the age and price what I should insure it for ?
