Taiwan modded top
« on: January 27, 2016, 12:58:20 AM »

I finished the Taiwan top from ebay. It has a black walnut crown and new tip plus I took about 1/8 off bottom side. It does every trick I can do. And is a great fighter. Triple stair way to heaven is easy.

Thank you. This is a fun top. It also plays with #36 large line from Spintastic. I love it. Tricks and fighting.

It weighs 9 oz. = 255 grams. I've learned a lot about tops by working on these Taiwan tops.

I guess the fly cutter is to cut nice parallel boards before gluing them together.
From that lamination of different woods a very nice top should be born!  8)

Yes this time I'm going to square the big block up. I will use the flycutter to cut the four faces then use the endmill for the sides. Then all the purple circles should be the same. I would like to get a good saw where I could make a segmented top. The wood cutters of youtube make such beautiful segmented vases we should apply the same on spin tops.

Thanks Jack. Hope to see you someday. I would like to see what you can do with the tops I've made.

Top is glued up and ready for the lathe. My future son in law came over with his meter saw, now to try and make a half segmented  and half black walnut Trompo.
