You know all of you can come to San Jose, California, and play with some of the BEST TROMPOS IN THE WORLD. But you have to hurry because I can go ANY DAY.

Might have to coordinate with you when my wife makes the trek down from Sacramento to a temple down there. Maybe a Fellowship of the String meet on the same day. Do try to come to BAC. It will be June 3rd in San Jose at the Children's Discovery Museum. You'll have to grab me from doing sound for a bit and have one of my guys take over for a bit.

Those drives wipe me out.

I was just getting to register and it seems really expensive. Is this the same price as the last few years?
It looks like going to the event requires additional payment to watch in addition to completion regeneration fees.
Any word on what day tops are happing? I may go for just 1 day.
I already have airfare paid so I will be going anyway. 89 days until the event!

I can only speak about specific yoyo contests and the most recent US Nationals(and the one before through others).

It would appear things are on the rise in regards to registration prices. I don't compete so these fees won't affect me. While I think registration fees should rise a bit, I think the latest jumps have been too much too fast. At the same time, I'm not out fees for venue rentals, insurance, permits and other stuff, so I don't know how much that influences registration fees.

Audience admission fees seem to vary depending on the rental agreement and/or the venue. Without knowing policies or seeing contracts, I can't comment.

I do know since the NYYL has been re-formed and is an actual body now, I think that despite the rapid amount of changes, the long term will benefit.  I am hoping to see spin tops represented at US Nationals. I'm hoping to to secure the contract for sound production/music director again, and I don't think that no matter how much I practice, that I'll be worthy of representing spin tops. I mean, I guess I could have something to shoot for. With the advisement of people on here, I think I'll get a fair assessment.

I'm glad spin tops are still going to get representation at Worlds for 2017. I want to see that momentum carry into next Worlds, as well as for other large yoyo contests.

Woohoo! It will be great to see you again at a worlds contest Jon! :) The venue looks fantastic to be on stage (and feel like an opera singer  ;D ).

Last year there was a big jump in registration costs if you did not preregister very early, specially for tops which before paid little. This year the attendance passes are more costly than in Cleveland, but the competitor fees are significantly lower: last year was $50 for tops plus a general competitor fee that started at $45, was already $90 in May, at $200 at the event.
Right now, to compete in tops is $30 and the 3-day pass $51, or $81 total.
Note to everybody: there is a $30 increase June 1st for competitors, $30 more ($60) July 1st or $100 at the event.
You can wait until the event to buy the 3 day pass. So it is worth to at least pay the competitor registration fee now.

I have not yet heard from Ben when the tops freestyles will take place.

Ben McPhee is in charge of the worlds' logistics. ITSA is in charge of the spintop contest.

Dale and myself will be judges for sure. The third one is still undecided (Korda? Ben? André?)

I am excited to show the new stuff I have been working on.

I am planning to come to Iceland for the world top contest, but I just started throwing at the end of last year.  Are you guys going to have a trick ladder to get into the freestyle competition?  I would like to do the trick ladder, but do not think that I can put together a freestyle routine for the competition without embarrassing myself.

Good to see you around these parts, tkunkel.  I am sure if you want to do a ladder, there will be others to judge you and others to join in on the fun.

Glad to hear you are going to Iceland.  Where are you from?

The Earl is right. If you ask for it, you'll get it. ITSA can buy some medals  :)
