hi all

there's a contest for duration sleeper with assisted launched wood tops on the french/german forums
metal tips are allowed though,it has to be under 300 grams

the times claimed are over 20 minutes !!!!!

Wow! How did we not find about this before?  :( I still need to read all the pages, but it is unfortunate that we only found out now that there are 2 weeks left in the contest when it has been going for 6 months!  I would have loved to enter otherwise.

Anyway, great contest. I see that in addition to turners there are some spinning top collectors on that forum. I will post something later so they know about us. I may even have a very late entry this summer ...  ::)

well i am the one to blame :D i have followed the post for months ; Pierre our friend here on the forum has an entry but at 13 mn...he is out of the game

they plan another contest later with a wood top to spin with fingers

I guess you were afraid that I was going to enter from the other side of the Atlantic and blow out the Old World with a 1 hour top! :P In fact, I am pretty sure I can make a 200gr mostly wooden top with a launcher and have it going over 30 minutes ...
A finger top is much less interesting, engineering-wise.
