My new 5" Watts arrived! Guess what number it is...
« on: November 20, 2009, 01:24:01 AM »

 :o It's so beeeeeeeg!  :o

I know there are bigger tops than this - I've held Figaro, after all, but HayZuess!  Mr. Watts warned me that a 5 inch top is a whole new world, and it sure is - you gotta be Hercules to boomerang it, but it's awesome.  but I'm gonna get so beefcake playing with this thing!  He sent two different chords extra long (thanks!) and I was surprised the thinner stuff (1/4 inch sash chord, I think) works just fine, even cut down to 6 feet.

And the number is...

My son is not impressed, however (short video):

Your son is more difficult to impress than us, for sure! Good job!

Congrats on the 5". The 4" is more playable but I want to eventually get tops covering the range between my 4" #69 Watts and 10" Figaro.

PS: I had to use IE to see the video: for some reason Firefox was stalling.

 :D giggle!
My dear Queen, I would not dare attempt to out-size you.
Besides, I have nothing to compensate for, it's how you use it, ...right?

 :D  I have a couple of 6 inchers available.

Also have a video of Steve Brown doing an 8.  Also very impressive.

Congratulations on your new 5" top.  It is a beauty. It looks like it is well balanced.

My 5" Watts top was a turning point in my top skills. I learned to regenerate with it. I still remember the day I was spinning tops with Rick Prevett in park in Lincoln NE. He was throwing his 4" Watts top and I was throwing my 5" Watts top. My 5 year old son went up to Rick and said "My Dad's is bigger than yours". We both had a good laugh.
