I'm not sure who all is on facebook, but I found a group (a very small group) for spintops.

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2372062654&ref=search&sid=5211405.3817466921..1

but it had a few nice links that I thought I'd share

One of the sub-links is for the worlds largest top

WOW, Jim - you really don't like Facebook!  I have some frustrations with it as well, so I just use it to find and keep in touch with old and new friends.  I hadn't seen the giant top before -but I'm the Encino Man of Skill Toys - I've been frozen for 10 years and am still finding new-to-me stuff all the time.

Thanks for the link, physboy!

Very passionate Jim!  Thanks Aaron for the link.  I've been going cold turkey on Facebook!  To think all those years ago I started because my wife wanted to have it say "In a Relationship"
"Could switching to GEICO really save you 15 percent or more on car insurance?"

...Is a top in the hand worth two on the floor?

I LOVE facebook!!!  It's how I keep in touch w/all of my old kids from the school. It's why I joined in the first place, around four years ago.  I've joined a few spin-top groups on facebook but I don't remember seeing that one.  W/out facebook I wouldn't be in contact w/Daveid since he's not posting on the forum these days......So you see Jim, it's not all bad.   :P  ;)

I think that if one wants an internet presence it is much better to invest the time in developing a website. If you own your domain name you are literally the ruler of your domain! You can change formats, hosting companies, etc. etc., without limitation, and websites are here to stay for good. Social networking sites fulfill a purpose, but they depend on commercial interests that change with time (yesterday is myspace, today facebook, tomorrow ?), there are many things you cannot control and they collect tons of information about you (all your friends, the friends of your friends . . .)

I agree with Jim that not being able to look at a facebook page without registering even if the owner of the page invites you, is a big bummer. I had to register because of that (but I cheated and use the name Tao McSpin: it didn't let me use the character zero on the name >:( ) Having said that, why don't you invite me, Spin Queen?  ;)

Thanks Queen for making me your friend! :P First thing I noticed when I went to your account is that you posted on a "Tops Suck" wall! Fortunately, you put them straight by linking to one of the Academy vids.
