Wood spin tops
« on: January 10, 2013, 10:33:39 PM »

These are the six tops I made in my machine shop class.  Mahogany, Poplar, and Zebra.  Most are hallow with ¼ stainless steal rod  going down the center. Three of them are bearing.

Nice work Cecil.  What material did use for the middle sections to get those cool designs?

Great collection of four-incher tops!  8)

Is the black star painted or inlaid?

The black star is just a stick on. The white is delrin. Five of the tops are hallow I use a steal rod in the center to control the weight that I want. I throw on 120 inches by .150 diameter line that we get from Chris. Tops are not easy to make as a lot of you know, but I am retired and I still love cutting, and wood has been fun.
