Throwing a SideEffect.

I received my new SideEffect Top a few weeks ago. The workmanship and the quality are Great.  However after throwing this top, I have found that I have better luck when I throw the top a little upward and parallel to the ground. I also try and keep my throwing hand and the poker chip below the top on the throw. That upward throw makes the top come back almost vertical to my hand.  ( Has anybody else experienced this? )

I have also used my QS string (a little thicker) and seem to have a little better control of the top.  Keep in mind however that "I am new at this and still trying to learn"

Sounds good!
A high arching boomerang is pretty, no problem with that.
Yes, thicker strings many times give better control of the top on the throw.
You are making good progress.
