2011 Food Boomerang Contest!!!!!!
« on: January 09, 2011, 11:43:34 PM »

Dude, you just boomeranged... food!!!
That is super-awesome.

2011 boomerang your food contest anyone?
This is the official announcement of the 2011 Food Boomerang Contest. To win you need to submit a video where an edible top is boomeranged by a board member. Catching the boomerang with the mouth instead of the hand is allowed but extra points for tops that spin for 3 seconds. Attempts at boomerang plus a spin on the floor are also allowed. Ice is considered edible and so is American Cheese. Sweet-extra points for messy landings. The rules are very flexible. The popular vote rules supreme. Video must be submitted before 23:59:59 UT+12, December 31st, 2011.

Prizes to be determined.

hmmm....
are there also bonus points for edible button and string?

and i'm assuming that i can't get away with just eating a plastic top and button and cotton string at the end of my video... then again, how are you going to tell for sure?

Yes, extra bonus points for edible button and string.
It has to be edible not just swallowable  :o

That is true, but yummy tops get lots of extra points.

My Topsicle would not get many points in that regard:

But next weekend at Madfest they could add some juice  ;)

I have the plastic bag with some melted ice from Jorge's first frozen top.  It is stored under high security in the Top Spinning Hall of Fame.

Also, in the video I noticed that Mr. ta0 has a hooded sweatshirt on.  I am guessing it must be all the way down to 40 degrees in San Antonio and that is what forced him to dress so warmly!!!

Clearly - to minimize the possibility of fraud - all contestants should end their videos by eating their creations.  Must swallow, then show empty mouth, including under the tongue.

hi all
fun project : count me in  ;) ;)

but the date seems a bit too far and a little pressure is always welcome to tease our creativity (laziness)

i suggest to take the date if the saint patron of bakers and pastry makers
saint honoré the 16th of May
as the deadline

how about that "CHEF !" ???

This is going to be fun !!!
I agree with Jim, an earlier date would be better.
Does the entire top have to be edible?  For example, the Icicle Top has a metal tip.  My suggestion is that all but the tip must be edible......

Spun sugar!!!  See, that's why I'm glad you are posting on the board again.  Others might enjoy your regeneration videos (and they are nice) but I REALLY like your creative and fun imagination!

Spun sugar?  Hmmmm..........I will have to think about that.

I think spinning food has its own excitement and rewards and I don't think we need the deadline of a contest to get people motivated. Hey, it may be fun to spin some food at Worlds or Nats! And it is going to take me a long time to find the right throw for boomeranging a banana  :P  But if enough people ask we will shorten the contest.

Tops that are partially edible get partial credit, I guess.  Or not: the people's whim will decide.

Eric: I look forward to your fusion of Iron Mod and Iron Chef  ;D

If we did this at worlds and nationals I think the yo-yo people would be extremely jealous.
