Is it a top?
« on: January 05, 2011, 12:13:14 AM »

This item is listed as a top on Ebay :

It looks like a fishing float to me. What do you think?

the auction site does say it's a top . . . but yeah it does look like a fishing float.

Well, i guess for folks in this forum, anything that is spinnable is a "top" to us.
Light bulbs at the Worlds is one good example, don't you agree?   ;D

I find it funny that ta0 asks us if it is a top when we all know darn well that he has already tried to boomerang it, top or not!

Haha, right on Mike! I'm sure ta0 would have tried to boomerang many trompo-shaped stuff . . . ice cream cone included? :o

There is a difference between what I would spin if I get for free (anything spinnable) and what I would pay to spin (spintops for my collection).
Having said that, once I did buy a Christmas tree ornament just because I thought it could be spun . . . And those conical plumbs at the hardware store always look so tempting. Oh, well  ::)

Thats funny, I've had to back away more than once while looking at plumb-bobs in hardware stores...

I tried to spin a strawberry once too.

I tried a plumb bob the weight distribution is really hard to get a good throw but they do spin.
