From the latest Grand Illusions newsletter I found out that they are now offering a finger top from Germany that is identical (a copy?) of one of Philippe's designs:
Olive Wood Top.
The one I got from Philippe he turned it in my presence and balanced it with a through hole in the base. It also spins well upside down. He has a strobe light and he showed me how the rings on that one set on opposite sides and with a 3-ring top they distribute to 120 degrees of each other. Of course, a one-ring top cannot be made to balance (well, perhaps it is possible if the base is very unbalanced.)
