Been playing with my BK for a while and the plastic tip's getting pretty worn down...idea came to me at exactly midnite yesterday (spooky eh?) to fit in a spintastic trompo bearing point (size E) into the BK. Fortunately i ordered one with my QS the last round and quickly went about it.

Takes a bit of tweaking. The bearing on the inner side (of the top) should not be pushed all the way down but just slightly below the seat. When the shaft of the tips is in, there's a groove (there's 2 on the shaft) near the flat end of the tip where I put a small rubber o-ring to keep the shaft from slipping out (yep, the tip is slightly thinner than the BK's tip so it will slip out). Wa-lah. Metal tipped BK!

Could not stop spinning it for at least an hour. Sleep deprived now. Haha. Will try to post pictures of the set up later tonite.
The tip is not exactly flushed with the body of the BK, sanded the BK's end a little to flush it with the tip. :)

That sounds like a very good idea. I love the results of inter-brand marriages :P The HP with the Bulldog cap is great example.

I like the fixed tip variation as well. You have to flatten the Trompo Grande tip's shaft a bit on each side (I used a dremel) then shim it with something (tape). A word of advice--If you like to reprofile the tip by spinning it in a drill, do this before you work on the shaft; DAHIK...
