Title: Modding the YYJ tips
Post by: ta0 on November 11, 2009, 12:21:21 AM
[Admin note: split and moved from the general board to the modding board]

First, as background, YYJ tips have a replaceable end cone:

Here is a photo of old modded Yoyojam tips:

You can see on the lower-right the mega end tip compared to a normal replacement end tip. I did it by sacrificing a fixed tip that I drilled to make the mating hole and sanded the stub to make the point.  On the lower-left you can see the big-head tip assembled compared to the regular tip. On the upper-left you can see a double stack tip (used it on my first compulsories  ;) )made in similar fashion. Lastly, the needle tip was just an experiment, but the only part sacrificed was the end tip which can be replaced to recover the standard bearing tip.

Those look nice, I would love to play around with the tips but I am afraid of ruing the only bearing tip I have.
