Just in time for Christmas I received several top related stuff. That included the box full of giant flip overs (thanks, Don), the Toopsy top (more later) and, this was a surprise, the Heritage Duncan video (thanks, Takeshi!). Although it is mostly about the history of Duncan yo-yo's, there is a small section on tops (and you can see Takeshi doing tricks, but surprisingly no T3), plus there are tops in the background in many occasions. Dale Oliver is interviewed extensively and also Chris Neff (who has two big tops in front of him). The 70's demonstrator Lupe Villareal was interviewed in my house and you can see some of my top collection behind him.
I think it is a really great documentary. For example, I did not know that demonstrators at certain times were trying to stay ahead of the police (for demonstrating without permission in school grounds and on public places) and that Dale was even arrested once for yo-yoing! It was wonderful that so many old demonstrators were interviewed while they are still around. It was a little strange not seeing Steve Brown there, but I guess that's what happens when you burn bridges.
Even if you are much more interested in spinning tops than yo-yo's I highly recommend this video. If your wife/girlfriend dismisses tops as a trivial toy, this video may give them a better appreciation of the cultural history and importance of skill toys.

Thanks for posting this ta0, Takeshi sent me one too and I love it. I thought I new everything about Duncan history but I learned many things. Thanks to Takeshi for doing all the work! I wish there were funds to do the same about Duncan spin top history.
