It has been over a month since Salvador sent me that huge lot of Mexican tops in consignment. I have not finished taking the pictures of all the models yet, but Salva must be very impatient for me to start selling them. As today is Black Friday in the US (the traditional start of the holidays gift-buying rush) I will take the opportunity to at least post the prices many have been asking for. Hopefully this will force me to finish the photos and cataloging this weekend.
I am not in the business of selling tops, so I will try to simplify this. Every top has the same price (well, the minis and a few with erased logos may go as bonuses to large orders). Also there are discounts for quantity so we can move these as fast as possible.
The prices are:
1 to 5 tops: $6 usd each
6 to 10 tops: $5.50 each
11 to 19 tops: $5 each
20+ tops: $4.5 each ("resale price" or for groups, etc.)
Edit 3/3: See Jumbo and Turbo post (http://www.ta0.com/forum/index.php?topic=576.0) for the prices and details on them. If you order those the regular tops sell at the resale price.
(yes, I know it is cheaper to order 11 than 10 or 20 than 19: we'll add something to compensate if you order those quantities).
You can ask for specific models or a surprise "collector's package". In the last case, for orders of 8 or more I'll add another top.
There is a cornucopia of models (over 50! not counting colors) so if you want a specific one there may be very few available. I am a collector so if there is only one or two I may be keeping them :-\ On the other hand, I am also open to trades . . .
The easiest way for me to ship in the US is Priority Mail for $4.80 (any quantity less than 20 tops). But if you order a couple I can send them by regular mail for $3. See Jumbo and Turbo post (http://www.ta0.com/forum/index.php?topic=576.0) for shipping costs. Payment by Paypal or check. It may take me a little while to ship when you order, be patient.
This lot doesn't include Jumbos or Turbo (bearing). Salvador will send me a smaller quantity of those in the next few weeks. Because they will be in limited supply (specially Jumbos and 2nd gen Turbos) I will give priority to those who purchased from this lot.

By the way, if you purchased Mexican Premier tops from Infinite Illusions around 2000, all the tops on this lot are of much better plastic and overall quality, even the few Premier I got.

We're still waiting for everyone to return from the holiday break but we seem on track for a 20+ order coming to Cincinnati. Mostly a big surprise package we'll split up ourselves (duplicate models OK) but also a couple specific ones for me if possible including a Tornado and one top that comes with the holster if any are left. When we organize ourselves I'll PM our list for availability and final cost with shipping and address to send check as none of us (that are here now) do Paypal.

I probably have a holster for every 15 to 20 tops, so I'll make sure any order of 20 tops gets at least one.

The quantity left I have not yet started updating. Perhaps I'll do it tonight after I finish packaging the first orders and I pick the ones I want to keep (several of the ones that say "1", sorry). But I already got orders for 80. For example, the Cobra is gone as I am sending one large to Don and one small to Trevor and probably keep the other two. I put some of the design options for some of the models but not all (but none of the color variations, which are a lot).

I found a lot of holsters at the bottom of the box, so all Cometa and most Super Trompo have one. Still most 5 Estrellas don't, and only one Alien has it. The holsters are probably not be a very secure way to take the tops hanging from the belt but are excellent for displaying the tops.

Thanks to Don I found out that if you pay by Paypal for "personal debt" instead of paying for goods or services, using a Paypal balance or directly from your bank (no credit card), Paypal does not charge a fee.

websites are discontinuing tops, you two opened up a whole new market that would be out of reach for me.
i would guess you want to move all of those to make this effort worth while for you and Salvador.
my top fund is directly linked to my crisis fund, which has been kinda (well used?) the last couple months. hopefully i can get back in my usual rut again soon. will you keep open a thread on what you have available as your inventory drops?

These tops come from a stash Salvador has been building for several years, sometimes buying the last tops on discontinued models he liked. So many of the tops I am sending are collectibles now. In fact, at least one of the brands doesn't exist anymore (Premier since around 2002, and probably also Trompo Sport). Part of my motivation is to help him move some of this stock. But I also couldn't pass up the opportunity to have first crack at getting cool tops :-) But now I need to move the largest quantity as fast as I can because I have my wife on my back . . .
Anyway, this is a one time deal, except that Salvador will send me a smaller number of bearing and jumbo tops. Once a particular model is gone, I will not have it again.
I am keeping a spreadsheet with the tops I am sending out so I will be able to update the tops left soon.

Some models of some brands are still available, but brands like Cometa, only sell and send tops into large, big, huge quantities to other countries and are much more expensive. You can see the prices of the cometa models that are sold in Spain and you will notice that ta0 is selling them cheaper.
Altough some branda are still working, almost all the models of Cinco Estrellas I send to ta0 are discontinued since several years ago; new models have appeared, but I don`t like them so much. Now`s tops don`t have the quality of years before.
The alien brand currently don`t fabricate tops. Maybe until the next year they will produce.
Extrem only produces tops one time every year or two years.
Besides to select models and brands, by myself, I checked, I reviewed top by top in order the player can play them well.
Most of times, a lot of tops are fabricated with a non-good tip to play.
All the tips of these tops, I reviewd personnally and I tested every top. We can say I did myself my own "quality control".
The string could be a little wide (gruesa) for the tops. Is this way, `cos the kids bind the top constlanty many hours and a thin cord will wear (se desgastarìa) so soon, quickly. I like to use a thiner anf fine (fina) to play these tops.
Personally, I reccomend to play with these tops in order you can improve yur game and style. I suppouse you are so much get used to play with large and heavier tops, and at the beggining, you can feel and to perceive strange and even unknown the way you play these tops.
BUt I must say that to play with these kind of tops helped me to increase my skill and to get better, to excel, to improve my ability.
In these days, I will post some videos in which I play with these same tops you will be acquire.

Wow!! When you pull the big bag of tops from the box it looks like a bunch of Christmas tree lights (the bigger nightlight style bulb I remember, not the tiny modern ones).
Hmmm, maybe battle tops with Christmas tree light bulbs could be a new seasonal tradition. ???

By the way. The brother of Guillermo Duràn, Dalì, told me a story about the turbo top, and it`s very probably that the first model of turbo top, the one first fHolo TRompo, was based in the model of YYjam, the bulldog.
To me, it seems like a babilonic ziggurat, or the egyptian pyramid of Zoser.

I have updated the list of trompos left (above on this thread), except for one order of 6 I haven't chosen yet.
I guess if somebody wants to request Salvador to include a specific top with the Jumbos and Turbos shipment, it should not be a problem. But I am doing this sale as a one time deal so nobody should expect me to re-stock on the tops that I ran out.

just got my package today. thanks ta0 and salvador! it sure is nice to have a variety of tops to play. i really like the way the mexican tops play. the super trompo sky is one of my favorites (you recommended a great top ta0). the tips are very different from what i am used to (and sharp!), and the tops themselves are very light and play fast. not only are they fun to throw, but i feel as though playing with these different tops will make me a more rounded player.

I find yesterday a transparent PVC tape "ultra elastical, shout the publicity". Wheather correctly works will be great to models as Tornado, because is one of the best mexican trompos with the exception is a bit delicate.

"Mexican Trompos" is sort of a blanket term, like "Tops from the United States." In the subject of this post, there are several Mexican (and Spaniard?) Brands; Cinco Estrellas, Cometa, Premier, etc.. Most of them are generally similar in design; a snap-in cap and a metal tip. They are very similar to a Duncan Imperial, except for they have the awesome metal tip and... well, they actually work.

I only know a trompo trade mark from Spain, Trompos Space, with two models: Saturno and Saturno Roller (bearing). I didn't see those is this post.

Well. In general, the mexican tops have nothing special, nothing that at the first sight could make look them better tahn others. That, just in appereance.
Most of them are smaller than a lot, the most of tops from USA I know. Or from another countries.
Many, many years ago, Duncan brand was here and that was the first seed to satrt here a own industry to make plastic tops. Duncan has no presence here since long time ago, and, the main ... oustanding thing that mexicans tops can have, is the big variety of designs in the surface ogf the cap.
From some years to nowsadays, the differents brands have improved their plastic and models,so, in general terms, the mexican tops are better now tahn some years ago....(I say, in general, because some ancient models were better than some of today`s)
Maybe, to some players used to play with large, heavy and big tops, these kind of tops colud seem too....small, light, and not very good to develop a good game.
What shows the contrary thing, for example, is the video of Gustavo (the one you can see here. In that video, Gus uses an Ultra, (the best top of the brand Holo TRompo according to his opinion)
The last opinion could be emphasized by another very good player. Gerardo Montero. If you see some of his videos, you watch that he uses too the trompo Ultra. Or the videos from Cometa team in Spain.
In my personal opinion, the best thing of these tops, is that by being lighter than most of you know/use, this action, by spinning faster, improves your game and increase your level a lot. I do say myself this by own experience.
Besides....most of they art so beautiful...

I Just love these tops I was going to sell about half of what I bought but all those folks may just have to order there own, so far I have only parted with one. They all play great, I have tried to hunt down these tops the last few times I have been in Mexico but have always come up empty handed . thanks again, these tops play great and have exceeded my expectations

I still have from all the Turbo bearings, some (but not many) of the Jumbo with Salvador's custom tip and the rest is mostly 5 Estrellas. If you can wait a week (or two) I'll make a list and post it.

Well, I received another box from Salvador. It was supposed to have only dvds and steel points, plus a few unique items, but Salvador could not resist putting some of the tops that have ran out ::) He sent 20 of the beautiful Cometa Cobras in 8 colors plus silver. Also sent a few Cometa Diamante, plus two tops I had not seen before: a Super Trompo Spider (very similar to the 5 Estrellas Spider, but perhaps even a little better) and 3 cool Alien Metalic (a top he says is selling very well.) He also sent me 5 really small minis from Premier as a gift.
I made a new inventory, and with the new tops this is what I have left (he has promised not to send me any more for sale):

Yes, they are for sale. See info at the beginning of this thread. But you need to be patient as I can be slow to ship.
I am trying to see if I can get Dale and Salvador to make a deal so Dale sells his retrofit tips. If that doesn't work you will be able to get them from me. I'll post pictures later.
