I finally got a FA-LO top, which is the buzzer-started top I had first tried at Cyril's.

This is the one from Cyril:

This is mine:

And these are the instructions and trick sheet:

It works quite well. I have done several of the not-so-easy tricks on the trick sheet. The top can be caught in the air so it rewinds itself and you can spin it up again.

Mine was made in Swansea, Wales (UK) by Marx but Cyril's was made in the US by Charmore, N. J. (a Louis Marx company, I believe). The patent by Norman Jarand Rivers of Tucson, Arizona, is from 1944, US2360593:

That was fun!

A 30 second routine is accessible to many more players.

Toji had the best routine, but others were also lots of fun to watch.  Maasa's T-Rex was hilarious! The little girls, Achikochi and Hitan, competed in cuteness. And I want to be like Momotaro when I grow up!  ;D

PS: Taka did an ad for his yoyo-to-koma conversion kit  :D

This is "30-seconds division", not so competitive but just fun.

The rule:
1. Players have to bring koma on the stage.
2. They have only 30 seconds to perform what they want to do.
3. The sponsors choice their own favorite player and give them some prize.

Another Italian festival, this organized by Rocco at his hometown of Tortona in Piemonte (half-way between Milan and Genoa):

Wow! U$ 350 for a SBT3.0 (with 3 or 4 extra tip assemblies).

It seems the top is located in the US (Niantic, Connecticut). But from the Japanese writing on one of the tip kits, it might have been bought from the SpinGear shop.

It has free shipping in the US, but I would recommend buying tickets to the ITSA auction instead  ;)

I got a personal offer for 300$, i have to think about it :)

Hi Neu

It's great that you found this hobby and congratulations on your progress. As you already regen, I would say you are already an advanced player!

I would definitely recommend the chonkakegoma to those wanting to learn regenerations.

I noticed your tops on your first post and I was curious but forgot to ask you about them. They look great!
The old bronze Spintastics tips that YoyoSam sells are not my favorites but they work.

Hello everyone!

I go by Neu. I am working full time and going to grad school as a part time student at the moment.
I bought my first spin top around February 2023, and I started playing with it for a few weeks to learn basic skills like boomerang, merry go around, crazy 8, and corkscrew. I stopped after a month, and I didn't start back up again around late August. Somehow, Youtube recommended a video by Geraldo Montero called "Trompo Geraldo Montero Rutinas." I was hooked, and I started to learn regen. Unfortunately, I gave up after a few weeks. I found out about chonkakekoma around that time, so I bought a paper one. Oh my! That top taught me sewing machine in less than two weeks. I have been playing alternating between trompo and chonkakekoma ever since. Well, I switch to koma and diabolo occasionally. It has been a hard and rewarding journey because I have to rely on poorly translated subtitles on youtube.

I have a 3d printer, so I make my spin tops out of petg and cover them with resin. I get the tips from yoyosam or request them from a spin top maker. My tops are around 2.75 to 3.9inch tops. Eventually, I would like to get a lathe and make wooden spin tops, but that's a distant dream.
