Trompaleta (spintop target and maze) and Cometa display
« on: July 28, 2010, 07:11:43 PM »

In the last box Salvador sent me he included "Trompaletas." These were made by 5 Estrellas years ago and have on one side a target with concentric rings labeled 100, 75, 50, 25, 10, and on the other side is a spintop maze. Both the maze walls and the rings targets are in relief to stop the top from going over them. It immediately reminded me of Toycrafter finger top mazes. This one is quite challenging using a fixed tip Mexican top (but should be easy with a bearing top).

I am only keeping 2 of the 10 he sent, the rest are $5 each.

He also sent me a Cometa display that I populated with the different Cometa models I had.

Of the 10 tops mentioned on the display:

ORION     COLECCION
MINI CAR     SUPER CAR
COMETA     AZTECA
TORNADO     DIAMANTE
DIAMANTIN     COBRA

I am missing the Azteca (but it is just a copy of the 5 Estrellas version), the Super Car (I sold my last one just a few weeks ago: I shouldn't have  >:( ) and the Diamantín (a mini Diamante, I guess). But I added two other Cometa models and I am back to nine. One was a small Cobra. Quiz 1: what is the other Cometa top? Quiz 2: What is not Cometa there?

Ok Neff, Dick, pplGrande and MrYo, you have your Trompaleta reserved. By the way, the name in Spanish would translate something like spintop-paddle which I don't like too much. TromPad anyone?

You got the first part, pplgrande. The Spider was the top presented by Cautín in the cool-guy-in-a-convertible video:

But the small blue top is actually also a Cometa, I guess what the display calls a Cometín:

That top maze would look good in the hall of fame but I didn't want to burden you with too much stuff at worlds........but if you could get one there I would gladly take it!

I will probably send a box  to the hotel, by ground a week before I get there, with tops and other spinning paraphernalia, even Figaro. It will be much cheaper than paying for extra luggage. So don't worry, you'll get yours.
