How good a top feels and plays has to do a lot about how accustomed you get to it.  I have for a long time been playing "heavy" tops (specially the modified Hollow Points and Quick Silver) but the Mexican players (+ Neff) have made me realize that I also need to work with the lighter tops. Anyway, my favorite top is still the modified HP for fixed tip play. For bearing play I don't have an absolute favorite, but the S8 and Throwback are up there, with the Acrobat, Gates and Todpdog very close.

Congrats in becoming a Jr. Member and getting your avatar  ;)

My favorite?  STB by Strommol8.
Dizzy recently asked us a similar question, here's the post:

The ring is supposed to make winding easier for beginners, but there are tricks you can do with them, which I found out watching some of the Latino players.
Here's some ring stuff:
and some more:

...but the Mexican players (+ Neff)...
I'm not worthy!

My favourite is Trompo Grande with a tip machinized by myself. But I really love de material STB8 is done. I have in mind to do a TG of teflon and a bit heavier (5 g near the tip).

I always prefered a lighter top, so i use mexican tops alot, but i have to say ever since i got a jumbo premier (which is about the same as a trompo grande), i love it, specially cause im trying to learn regeneration, the modified tip helped me alot (thanks ta0 and Salvador for the jumbos), i havent mastered it yet, but practice makes perfect

This trick by Herman from the old topspinning.com site, "Bungee Jump Snatch," puzzled many of us  ??? until somebody told us that he was using a ring   ::) :
