of course he was trying to spin the top ta-tack. It has the same mechanism but with different springs due to its weight. In that particular test I am calculating the length of the top of the top.
The difference is that instead of hitting the top to compress the axis I compress it jumped. Well that was the intention

wuauu Jim, impress ciril's collection. I just watched a video. There are places, magic places and that is one of them. Where you can get lost in time, looking at each piece, where you would like to play, study each top. I have even lost your imagination thinking that those holes that the top has, are the holes so that once the top is launched it will whistle while it rotates. The pity is that in the video the camera passes so quickly through each spin. It is certainly like being in a candy store for a child.

Being one of the lucky who visited Cyril and his unbelievable collection I can say it is exactly "like being a child in a candy store", if you manage to visit us one day at Marines' festival you could maybe become one of the lucky too!!
And it would also be a good place to promote your tops and discover lot of different old timer/modern/diy made spintops!
You would be welcome of course! For info the next edition of the festival is planned in November 22 to 28...

I also visited Cyril's collection during Marines 2019, and I can only concur. I love mechanical tops like the Ta-tack, and I was dazzled not only by the number and variety in his collection, but also by how far back in time they go.

At the moment, I'm looking at the racket as a fun way to keep pumping energy and direction into the top. Is that what you meant?

HI ALL

I have played my tatak for a week now
it works....but it's not that easy
the 1st twirl/launch in the palm must be precise and strong
then its a question of agility, coordination and training
you ll see that its difficult indoors , especially in a flat, because you have to move around all the time

I have tried to use a book as a racket : its much more efficient as long as you land the top flat

with the palm it's more difficult but you can correct the inclination to keep the tatak straight

i'm surprised its not broken yet , after many crashes on the pavement >:D >:D
