He didn't remember the name of the slinky. What I remember is that with anything we were distracted for hours.

I agree with you. With each step it loses friction and in the end it would stop.
You've already given me an idea for another video. I'll find some long stairs and do the test. In some park in my town, or better yet, I have already thought about where there are super long ones in Barcelona.
If any of those who have a Ta-tack are encouraged to do the test, upload the video.

Ta0 Speaking of the friction of the ladder, you have told me how to solve a problem with a project that I have and it has failed me. You are a genious.  ;)

I have built a giant Ta-tack top and the fun was to get in and make it work. haa haaa. I know I'm a little crazy. but crazy fun hahaha.
Of course, hitting the shaft is not the same as jumping into a Giant spinning top.
The result was that I did not get friction to turn and I ended up on the ground. But since I must not be very smart, I tried it several times and finally the casing that was not very strong was damaged.

I put something of the construction of the top. If you like the idea, I'll fix it. But this time I put the spring that Ta0 comments on so that it takes friction. Tell me something, that with the amount of silly projects I have, it doesn't give me life. And looking for a spring for those dimensions will not be easy.

This is what happens if you cast a ta-tack by a staircase.
If it were infinite, would it stop?

Great fun -- so many ways to play this spintoy!

I think the ta-tack would keep hopping down indefinitely if certain conditions were met:
(1) Temperature stays within operating limits.
(2) Gravity doesn't weaken significantly on the way down.
(3) The stairway stays steeper than a certain critical angle.

Conditions (1) and (2) pretty much rule out a stairway to the center of the Earth. A stairway to heaven's probably out, too. >:D

I think the ta-tack would keep hopping down indefinitely if certain conditions were met:
If the tip slides (like with hard steps) it won't regenerate.
In addition, if it doesn't bounce up, as this top has no ratchet mechanism, it will lose the spin in the downward-stroke of the axle that it wins in the upwards-stroke.

That giant Ta-Tack top would be amazing  :o But I suggest you only have a ring. If  you have a full cup the air friction might be too big.

Yes, it is true that if the tip loses friction it will stop.
But falling from one step to another is like a rebound. Enough time for the axle to be loaded for another impact and so on infinitely.

Ta0 In Spain we say "a good time" The TA-TACK top I have already done but it did not work for me.
But it was because of the friction on the floor.

Here I was still hopeful that the mechanism would work. Lose, I'm a little innocent.

Here, I had serious doubts that it would work :-\

Here, I thought my teeth were working and this is where I realized I would not have teeth.

Finally I am seen, gracefully falling like a cat, a tiger.
"my body still hurts" :) :) :D ;D

Although you may not believe it, I am having a great time.

If I get the Ta-tack top to work I edit the video of how I built it and upload it

Wow!  :o :o :o
I don't understand what you were trying to do. Were you really planning to spin with the Ta-tack?  :-\ ??? ???
