Ooooh, wish I could go!

Gorgeous, friendly, historic city with a totally opaque language. Way too many consonants, and seemingly 12 different diacritical marks for every letter.  Wonderful riverfronts on the Danube.

hi all !
we have a super Joker for Budapest : our dear friend Attila who will attend marines for the 3rd time :D

wheel talk to him into looking for a decent spintop spot (and accommodation maybe)
the idea is to make it easier for far-away players, Eli and Jose you can count on ITSA to help
you getting there  ;)  same for taka, mexican players and colombian maestros ..etc...

Well, I just noticed that registration is open: https://wyyc2020registration.com/competition/entry/wyyc2020/

Just two days before the first price increase of the general competitor registration:

    60 € until February 29, 2020
    80 € until March 31, 2020
    100 € until April 30, 2020
    120 € until May 31, 2020
    140 € until June 30, 2020
    160 € until July 31, 2020
200 € at the event venue, starting from Wild Card round regardless of seed status

On top of that, Spintop division is 40 euros more.

It's a problem of going along with the yo-yo big event. But the yo-yo divisions are 20 euros more.
I'll propose the ITSA board that we refund the spintop portion (40 euros) to those who compete.

I was looking at the lodging. There is no specific official hotel, but a group of hotels, Mellow Mood Hotels that offer a discount with coupon code "WYYC2020". The closest to the venue are Parisi Udvar, La Prima Fashion and Promenade City, for about $130 a night (double occupancy) on those days. But I find much better deals with Airbnb, even closer to the venue.

again the registration fees for the World contest are simply too much !
i hope that there will be reduced price for the people of Budapest who want to look or attend

of course, as the ITSA chairman, I agree : if there are 10 contestants , it will cost us 400 , we can still afford it , however it will be at the detriment of other spendings (...°)

for a collective accommodation , I don't know : again 130 for 2persons/a night: who can afford it ?

the world yoyo contest is for the happy few

If you want to go real cheap, there is an airbnb at walking distance for $21 the night (4 guest, 2 bed, 1 bath, entire apartment).
I nice one with 3 bedrooms, 3 bath, for 6 people, $160. A loft for 7 people for the same price.

No. Look at the photo of the venue up in this thread .
I've heard that after the problems with wind and humidity at the 2000 World contest in Disneyworld, the organizers sworn not to have it outside again.
The venue reminds me the one for Prague. I suspect not very spintop friendly (tile, not carpet) :(

With this coronavirus thing there is the possibility that it's canceled. Fortunately, as the virus is transmitted through the air, like the cold and flu, it's likely that it will go away during the summer. But, if the event is canceled, there will be a refund of registration. I suggest selecting an airbnb that has a full refund cancellation policy.

Gustavo Castro me confirmó que quiere competir
If Gus is there it would be fantastic!  :)

come on ! let's not get too paranoid : the "virus" is mostly a media/corporate thingy
we understand that it's bad for older people or people with a weak immune defense system
but over all , it's a flue , not a bubonic plague or a  cholera outbreak

i don't think it will influence Worlds in august

that said ,we probably need to organise yet another raffle to make up for the costs linked to Worlds and other sponsored events
it would also be time to renew memberships ;)

good day
