I just landed 2 boomerangs in a row!
And my mom was watching  :D, who was amazed by what I did!
*does a happy dance*
If you can do it with someone watching, that means you got it!
You will have a bunch of fun with the newer tops. Now it’s time for you to start becoming a string snob, get some custom strings and you will be set!
The 3 phases of learning a trick are,
1: do it 1 time   2: do it with your mouth closed    3: do it with someone watching.
If you did all that, it’s yours.

The only thing I'd advice any new top player... Practice Corkscrew with your mouth closed ... yeah... I've hit my face a couple of time.. this trick is scary in the beggining

I just learned something from it: a different way of doing the skyrocket!  :-[ I always wrapped the string around the top with my throwing hand, then let the string from my non-throwing hand fall across the string and pulled up with my throwing hand. Mark's simpler: you wrapped with your non-throwing hand, let the string fall and pull with your throwing hand. Back to basics!

In my opinion it doesn't work quite as well as the first method you mentioned.

I agree with you. You can see Mark string sliding quite a bit through the top when he does it.
But it's easier to explain, so I was thinking it might be better for teaching new players. When I teach skyrocket is common for people to forget to do the cross over.
When I first tried Mark's method with one of my flexible 3D printed tops it worked very well. But now I have tried it with my trusty hollow point, skinny and heavy, and it actually doesn't work! So I'm back to the old method.

I'm curious if Mark is one of the few doing it like that or if this is common.

Thank you Tao  :)
My mom was suprised by how fast I learned it!
But she does not doubt it , that I am a fast learner .
And thanks to you all, the folks that never let me down, I see my future as a spin top player  :D
After all this time of practice and failure,   I did it,  and I'm proud of myself ! Giving up is not an option!

Wahou! That's a big step crossed! I agree with your mom, you look like a fast learner!
In no time you'll be visited by the regenerating genius...

Oh and why didn't I saw this video before? It's a must add to spintricks for sure!

Thanks!  I do practice daily  :)
For now, I just do it slow and steady.

Prepare some phone or even better camera as there will be a lot to learn, (from different people/technics not to say that you need to learn a lot) better to have examples and lessons on film...

Practice merry-go-round! That’s the beauty of boomerang, you will be practicing boomerang to start all the basic tricks, so practicing m-g-r = practicing boomerang.
Also, pro tip, it helps with boomerang if you shout it out loud ever time you throw.
