Each person has three minutes to do as many tricks as they can on a stage.  This freestyle is judged with points awarded for different tricks.  Maybe a judge could address this question with more details?

People sitting around me all commented on the great finish of Mark's freestyle.  We were also quite interested in his unique set up to get two tops spinning.

Taka really looked like he was having fun up there.  He cracked me up when he knocked over several items on the floor with a battle top like throw.

All the Cuper players showed good stage presence and looked solid with their routines.

Val Oliver has quite a following.  People went crazy for her over 40 yoyo routine and there was, once again, a lot of cheering for her during her top freestyle.

Farid had a great tongue grind to end his routine.

Tom's progress is fantastic and he looked very comfortable onstage.

Eli completed so many great whips and his top only hit the stage three times.  Two of those times he saved it.  I thought Jose would have to really be on to beat him.  It looks like he was although he showed a look of disappointment at the end of his routine.

Thanks, Mike! Really looking forward to seeing all of that on video.

Q: Does the Championship depend on more than the freestyle score?

So, I am finally home. Tired and processing these last few days.

I had such a great time with everyone. The cork screw challenge was a learning experience for me. I never tried more than 3 to 5 wraps.

The best trick contest was great. We didn't end up voting but some great tricks were presented. This was to get ideas circulating. I hope we have some video to post of this event for everyone to see. Chris and I talked about some potential ideas for tricks which was fun. It is exciting to get new ideas out there.

I am so happy the ladder competition happened. My kids went first and hit the tricks they knew. Everyone was fantastic with them.
I have to say "thank you" to all the top family that helped me watch my kids during this event. They loved Jim Neff's trunks of tricks. Mike sent them home with tons of tops. I have to thank Beau's mom for helping locate Felix when he ran off to the video game area. Right before we made our way back stage for the final, I got the news " No one can find Felix". They almost made an announcement over the PA. Good thing he is predictable.

The battle was fantastic although I did terrible. Both my kids had better scores than me :o Another kid on the sidelines saw my kids battling and started practicing throwing tops. He said maybe next time he could participate.

I don't have video of the finals, so I can't comment on my performance. Eli did fantastic. I really want to watch the finals video, but none are uploaded yet.
One thing I will say is that we had a full house for the top finals. In Iceland, most people walked out once they announced it was time for the top finals. The energy was great in Cleveland, and I felt the audience getting into it. I talked to a few people, and they commented they didn't know tops could do that. I think we all felt a great energy at this event. Marco and ta0 commented they felt it as well.

I met some fantastic people at the event, and I hope we created a few more top players.

Jim, as far as the jacket, I can't say much. They will be sending it in the coming weeks. It will be a great prop to use when I do my school presentations.

I arrived home close to midnight yesterday and now I need to work  :(  ::)
I'll have my reports later. Lot's of new top memories. The best as always was meeting all the people in this great community 8)

PS: On that 360 photo of the battle players, Taka asked us not to hit his camera. That's the reason the throws were so lame!  :P
Mark Hayward surprised everybody, including himself, in the corkscrew challenge!

Thanks to everyone who showed up in Cleveland! It was so fun and everyone was so amazing, it’s like spin top college for someone at my level to be able to watch you all throw.
Loved every minute of it. Thank you ta0 and everyone that helped make it happen and make it fun.

What do you have to do (and not do) to win the Sports division?
