Hello everyone,

I'm getting the hang of it,  boomeranged my smallest wooden top. 3 times!  ;D
Maybe it is because it is not heavy?  Either way,  it's fun!  I always laugh when I land a boomerang,  even when accedently dropped,  I don't get upset.  Just keep on smiling  :) and keep on practicing!

That’s great. The first time I caught a boomerang was with a Duncan imperial and it made me laugh too, it is so different from yo-yo to have a little top dancing around in your hand, it seems like something that is alive.

Yes it is!  It really is fun when it spins on your  hand. At first,  it tickled a bit,  and Let go off my hand for that.  But I'm getting better.
My wooden tops are like my little pets,  I take them wherever I go!
I always have a top and a yo yo in my bag. :)
So I can practice whenever I have time , and the place to practice!  Currently,  I practice at home.  Don't want to have my top hit someone /something!
When I am confident and good enough,  I'll practice in other places as well.

Hey there Jim :)
Yes, I live in Belgium,  in Flanders . I don't understand French , I used Google translate  :)
Are there more spin top players in Belgium?  I like that you travel between Paris - Brussels.
I live in East -Flanders,  Herzele.
Maybe we meet one day  :)

Many greets,
Jolien

Herzele Castle looks interesting.  I also like the Church of Ressegem.  Herzele seems like a nice community of 17,000 people.  That is about the same size of my town of Miamisburg, Ohio!!!

Achieving the "graceful arc" of a boomerang is definitely the hardest part.  But, the catch and correct also takes practice.  When I was first learning to boomerang, I felt like the top should be perfectly upright when it came back to my hand.  Eventually, you learn how to save a less than perfect throw by correcting the top in you hand.   But, you have the get the spinning top to your hand in order to practice that.  I started throwing tops as an activity while recovering from knee surgery, so a big scoop from the floor was out for me, which is why the skyrocket was the first trick I learned.  It was a way to get the top to my hand without bending.  Dale had also suggested using one of the launchers to start a top on a table or counter to practice the scoop without having to bend to the floor.  Any method that works for you to get the spinning top into your hand is good practice that will help later with the boomerang.  And, practice correcting the top with both hands.  The non-throwing hand will come into play with later tricks like wire walker.
