I'm just about to do that!  ;D So far I haven't had any difficulties, it doesn't seem to trouble TSA. I hope that didn't change recently. It may vary from airport to airport.

I travel with many tops as carry on. With the newer X-ray machines my baggage is only further inspected manually 1/3 of the time. And in the last few years only once I had real trouble: it was with Figaro and transfering at the Mexico City airport of all places! I would only be concerned by a very long nail tip top from Indonesia. By the way, 10 years ago they didn't let me carry the rope of Figaro at CDG in Paris! You can always have bad luck with an unreasonable agent.

I'm mainly worried with short flights with just cabin luggage, they are looking for any excuse to make you pay and put your luggage as cheked baggage!

This is why I like SouthWest Airlines. A few extra bucks in ticket price can save 50 or 100 in bag fees.

I don't think you will have any trouble.

There will be Taiwanese tops that anybody can use for target practice, so you don't really need to take yours (unless they decide to have a Taiwanese top battle  :-\ )

It is interesting how some flights are so easy going about tops and others are not.

I have had agents take out my tops and examine them. Once examined, they get a positive reaction. "Hey look at this." Now I take the case of tops out of my carry-on and place it in the tub with my loose items. No one has taken a second look since.

My tops ARE my carry on :D One large bag for Figaro plus Markus or Relampago tops, plus a camera backpack for the regular tops. I always have to check-in a suitcase for the non-top stuff (plus some extra tops)  ::)

You know the 10 years challenge right?

Here it is my Marines challenge!

All the tops outside the suitcase are new adoptions! ::)

I was worried with the relámpago tops, the big one has a massive tip!

I stored them in the carry on pointing up so the tips looked like dots in the x-ray...

No problems at all!!!
