Bill's Doughnuts is the best! The sour cream old fashioned is highly recommended.  ;D

So much fun :)  I normally take a couple hundred pics each time, but this time it was close to 1000... :) we all have our obsessions.  I think there are over 800 for your enjoyment.  Plus there are several vids to enjoy.

I just finished updating the website, so everything is more easy to access.  All links are in one place: Pics on Facebook & Flickr, Vids on YouTube.  The link for the After Dark Vids is only available on this forum and is unlisted.

The rest of it is ready to enjoy and share  8)

I also noticed that there was a problem with the 2017 page...none of the links was there... ugh.  It is fixed also

Our family had a Great Time at Miamisburg Whirl Top Festival and Nationals. We saw our Spin Top Friends Old and New and had fun Spinning Tops with them. The Don Olney Spin Top Collection was nice and fun to see.

I finally was able to take Twister and complete Suns. What a workout!!!!.

Thanks to Mike Hout for all your Hard Work for this event.  Thanks, JohnM for having my family at UC and for all your Hospitality and Hard Work making HDPE Tops. We enjoy throwing them.

Jay the photos are Great  Thanks

Looking forward to 2019 Miamisburg and Worlds.  Hope to See Everybody There.

Thanks a lot for doing this Jay!
I wished we had somebody like you at other events to document them.

This is a photo I don't think you have, because I helped Mike change it on Monday. Those who went to the old nationals in Chico will recognize the saying: The Top Players Wind Up in Chico Miamisburg!

Jim, think of English this way: it is the only language where "Fat Chance" and "Slim Chance" mean exactly the same thing.

I'm still digesting what a great festival this turned out to be. We have such a great top spinning family. Thank you Mike for all your hard work to bring us together. I hope you find a place to hide...I mean store all Dons' tops with more to come. Thanks to everyone for all the advise on suns and orbits and toilet seats.

So...I am a banjo player who plays old time string band music. Most of it involves murders, train wrecks, dogs and rodents. Anyway, I have to work with what the world gives me. I recorded this after juggling club this afternoon (in my yard) on my Tascam portable player. It's the first unedited take and I put some of the Miamisburg pics with it to make a simple slideshow. It's most likely the first folk song ever written about a top spinner. BTW, Jose is also a banjo player and I figured that I owed him a song given our intersecting hobbies. Proceed at your own risk: Once listened to, the song cannot be unheard. Based loosely on a song called 'Ruben's Train'. Congrats, Jose!

- We're good now....
- I was limited to only several types of attachments for the file and had to use a ZIP file format. I guess that didn't work so well.
- I just uploaded the slideshow (my first video!) to YouTube.

Here it is. I love the photos Jay took of the old tops from Don's collection. You can hear the birds that live in my yard scolding me as I play.

Sorry for the challenges caused by the ZIP file. Lower your expectations and have a look / listen.

Nice!!  I thoroughly enjoyed both the song, and the slideshow.

I expect that, as a fellow banjo player, Jose will especially appreciate this....
