A Very good day
« on: March 19, 2016, 09:22:33 PM »

  • Went to work today (Saturday) and delivered to a very happy client a project over one year in the making.
  • Got the car out of the shop and running great for 2/3rds the estimated price.
  • Rachel and I spun for a while. Rachel improved her trapeze catches and wire walkers. I got 3 firsts today
  • Finally learned around the world well enough to do it repeatedly.
  • 10 Roller Coasters with a QSH (twice)
  • 10 Drumbeats with a QSH (twice)
Now to get it on video and get my 24 patch!

-- Edit --
Oops. I forgot that I also learned the trick that Jakub did at 0:40 of his 2016 EYYC routine. Does that trick have a name?  It is really cool because you can keep regenerating and not twist the string.
Also dropped the top in the dirt did a regen-skyrocket then 2 RCs to hand. THAT was a fun way to recover from a drop. (Is there a different name for a skyrocket where you add spin?)

Sounds like a truly perfect day. I am sure you slept very soundly. And today is Sunday to boot!  :)

Here is Valerie doing one in slomo.
The key to success is the start.  With the top hanging down, the crown of the top should point to about 7:30 O'clock (noon is away from you)  Don't put much tension on the string as the top goes through the upper arc.  Lots of spin helps.
Suns look impossible to me.  (but so did Merry Go Round a few years ago)
