The First Commercially Available Srummol8 in US
« on: August 11, 2015, 10:13:06 PM »

What is the name of it?

I thought it was called "Enzo" after the Ferrari, or was that just the red one?

Is it the Guila?

Most importantly to me does the 1wb unit fit it?

Last, wasn't there a bearing tip cap made for it? I would so love to have that!

It's been a while, since I've been here!

Hello Myk_Myk!  Great to have you around these parts again.  It is an exciting time with worlds going on in Tokyo.  Some of those who would give you more information about your question are over there right now.
Sorry, I do not have much experience with Strummol8's.

Thanks Guys!

I think it must be the "Guilia". It was YYE that drove me back here, as I wanted to try the 1wb. Have you tried them? Do they have a reduced free spin time compared to the conventional bearing?

I'll try to spend more time here...  ;)

You know, I vaguely remember you from the old board so I looked up some old posts and ran across where your son Jasper/Oliver was born.  It looks like you settled on Oliver and now he must be almost nine year old.  What a great age to get involved with spinning objects.  Does he do any of that with you?

I also found where you have some tops from Eric and Alan.  You have a deeper history with this activity that I ever realized.

hello ancient one @-@

ive had experience with the OWB and imho it acts neither like a bearing nor like a fixed tip. there is alot more friction to the OWB than ud think but that being said it works fine for something quick like a gyro flop but not so great for a wizard gyro for example. all tha being said i love the ease of regeneration the OWB affords but thats about all i think it has going for it, hope that helps  ;)

Thanks Jack, I suspected it didn't "sleep" as well as a conventional bearing tip, but didn't realize it was that drastic. Of course I still have to try it, because it still sounds like it's fun!
