Atomic Top and truth in advertising
« on: February 07, 2015, 05:42:50 PM »

I picked up this display of Atomic Tops at Don's last year:

It is started with a string while holding it with a nail (included in the package) that goes into a hole on top.

I cannot count how many times I have seen tops with exaggerated claims of spin duration. So it was a nice surprise when this top easily surpassed its claim of "spins for 3 minutes on a smooth surface." On the table it spins for 4 minutes, on glass for 7 minutes!

But when you find a display like that of unsold tops, you wonder if the sales were bad. Perhaps they should have claimed the full 7 minutes . . .

It is a cool looking display.  So sad to see so many nice tops go unsold.  Sales of spinning tops is a tough business, I guess.

Happy to hear about the great spin times!!!
