Tax Token
« on: January 03, 2015, 04:14:35 PM »

I had some time to kill today while my son was at soccer practice and wandered into a nearby antique store.  I was hoping to find some old tops, no luck on the tops but I spotted these tax tokens and thought they would make nice string buttons.  Only 50c each, so I picked up a few.  The hole is a little large, but works great with the large 1/8" string.

Very interesting.  I do not think I have ever seen anything like that.  From what I read on the internet it looks like they started distributing these in 1935.

very interesting indeed, i asked my father (73) if he'd ever seen one before and he said he had but cant recall exactly how they were used. your top button discovery demands investigation!  ;D
