Is spin top competition for this contest still divided into a fixed tip division and a bearing tip division?

no not at all

all tops whether big or small ,bearing , fix tip or OWB are in the same 3 mn freestyle contest
there might be a separate division for koma players (still in discussion)

As Jim said. The freestyle rules as they stand now are here:

www.ispintop.com/freestyle-rules.html

The main difference from last year is that there would be a penalty for winding the top during the freestyle.

From Taka:

Quote
I had meeting with MrFujita and he agreed to come to worlds.
And he can compete or judge.
He will also bring his top student who is national champion.
Both of them can do Koma and Spintop. They have great skill for it.

1)Sports ladder
Include corkscrew, most of tricks can be done by Koma. But need adjustment. So now I'm working with Japanese player, MrFujita and trying to make Spintop and Koma trick list. I will show draft later.

2)freestyle
They said they never do that, so first year, they can join, but just like experiment.
So they said no need rule adjustment. Same as current rule is ok.

 :) :) 8) 8)

PS: Airfare has gone down since I started looking. Hopefully the trend will continue a little more (crossing fingers).

It was decided that instead of a sports ladder there will be a Japanese style contest with the format they have been using. I have asked them to post videos of the tricks. I will try to practice them and enter that contest.   ;)
Spintops will have its own dedicated area, with carpet floor: Yeah!  :)

The freestyles will be Saturday around noon on the main stage (Friday night in the US). I am guessing I will have to freestyle to increase the number of competitors. But I am not complaining: it will be super-cool to be on that stage!

If you would like to come but assume it is too expensive, it may be a little less than you think. Airfares have come down and I discovered that if I choose Flight + Hotel in Travelocity (I bet it is the same in Expedia and Orbitz) I get seven (7) nights of a 3 or 4 star hotel (no capsule hotel!) for practically free. In fact, for 2 people it would cost less per person than the airfare without hotel!   ???

So, you are definitely going.  That sounds great.  Even greater is the information about the cost!

Glad to hear things are working out for top spinning competitions.  And our own dedicated area that is carpeted sounds terrific.

It seems like the good news of robtsou should be on this thread.  Looking forward to hearing how your spinning preparations are progressing as you get ready for Tokyo Worlds 2015.  It is wonderful to hear you will be attending the event.  I also look forward to hearing other comments from you about your travel and your adventures over there!!!

For those going.. when will you be there and where are you staying?

My wife and I are planning the trip currently.. looks like we're stopping in Hawaii for a few days then heading to Tokyo on the 9th :)
