Terrific.  Can't wait to hear the details.

I am sure all those at nationals are happy for you, too.  They are just a bit busy right now with their big day!

The rope center core for the spool worked well but also suffered serious degradation after the pull.  Sorry, I forgot to measure the diameter of the rope core before the pull.

Fun in the tropics.  When getting out my collection for display for the TV show, found a lizard egg in one of the tops!
Have a clearer pic but can't seem to get it posted at the moment.

It worked pretty well! I am relieved!

It spun a little slower (about 180 RPM) but should have been good show for the TV. I hope that after the show airs we can see the video online.

A lizard egg inside a top is a first!

Can you put the lizard shell in the pie pan for your trip to Miamisburg?

Mike, customs looks unkindly at transporting lizard eggs, but maybe it could be an honest mistake?

Here is update on the TV show segment.:
Our segment of Matanglawin will be aired 10 a.m. Sunday Oct. 12 on ch. 2 ABS-CBN  (Philippine Time). After our last Saturday filming here on site we had face-to-face interviews with Kuya Kim at covered courts in Manila where he was filming other segments of the show. Just finished yesterday. They say it will be available on an internet link after the broadcast and will be live-streamed as well at http://www.iwantv.com.ph. That would be 10 p.m. EST Saturday Oct 11 in U.S.

Oh! ;)

Of course, do not take any chances.  It was just a wild thought.

Glad to hear of your TV show segment!!!

This link needs you to register mobile phone or email to view but here is the full show. The tops segment is about 23 minutes into it.

Unfortunately, although it let me register with an email account, when I try to watch the video it tells me that is not available for viewing from my country or location.

Perhaps somebody over there can capture the stream and publish it to youtube?

Okay TaO will see if I can get someone to do a capture and post to youtube. Yollector, I agree, am planning on shortening the bottom shaft, but will have to raise the spin platform up to keep all the pulling pulleys aligned.

I finally could watch the show using a proxy server located in the Philippines >:D

I uploaded the spintop section to youtube. I am sorry for the liteCam logo, I forgot to take it out  :-[

The program shows video from "the accident" what proves that it makes the story of the record breaking attempt much more compelling. I am looking forward to one day see a documentary of the whole adventure on Discovery Channel or BBC  :)

Before this section there was one showing the different styles of modern yo-yo play.
