Newbie
« on: April 23, 2014, 12:17:26 PM »

Hello everyone,   I am a long time lurker and just joined the forum. I'm not sure why I waited so long. You all unknowingly taught me so much. I've learned that top spinners are a very select group. This forum has been amazingly helpful. I have met several members of our forum and they all have been beyond kind and knowledgeable. I hope I can contribute back as much as I received. I started out as a juggler but top spinning has become a passion. I still consider myself a novice. Lately I have been deeply involved with learning the kongzhu. My living room is filled with 50-60 kongzhu's of all kinds and sizes. Some light up or make music  and some you wouldn't recognize. I prefer props and tricks that are funny, weird or bizarre. I use to wear a button that said " Being weird isn't enough" and I guess that fits. But thats enough about myself.

Welcome Jim!!!!  I think we have enough room in the forum to accommodate a second NEFF!  ;D

It is so great to have you here!  You are anything but a newbie!  I learned several things from you at RIT!

Perhaps I should have driven from RIT to Buffalo to see that!  It is great that you bring those obscure (for us) skill toys from the Far East.

I'm really glad to see you join, Jim.  Welcome to the forum.  We met at Rochester, unfortunately for you  :P  lincolnrick = Rick from Lincoln = breaker of tops...  Rumor is that Cyclone has been repaired?

Feel free to post any and all pics or videos of your vast kongzhu collection and how you play.  We're all thirsty for knowledge about all kinds of tops.

Again, welcome to the family  ;D ;D

Welcome JIM!!!

It was great meeting you in Rochester and seeing, up close, your unique and imaginative approaches in skill toy play.

We’d all love to see a photo of your living room full of kongzhu.

It’s wonderful to have you here with us!   :) ;D 8)

Amazing!  I never thought this day would arrive.  I was sure you were going to spend the rest of your life lurking and lurking while we sent secret messages to you and wondered what your responses would be.

So, as soon as I pick myself off the floor and recover from the shock I will try to say the word.  Here it is.  I am almost ready.

Welcome!

I guess my next thought is a selfish one.  When can we get together again?  I just kind of thought and hoped we would get together at the IJA festival at Purdue.  Are you going?  My plans are not firm yet but I do have most of that week blocked off so I can attend.  If you are able to attend, I propose that we have a top spinning gathering every day around your bag of equipment.

I am still stunned.

Wow!!!

Thank you to all for the welcoming and cheers. I have registered for the IJA convention at Purdue. We have a date. I'll be sure to bring a ridiculous amount of props. Its amazing the spinning props you can pick up at the local Salvation army. Yes Jim, another Neff. I can only wish to be as skilled as Chris. Hopefully we'll meet someday. Heck, he might be my long lost cousin.

This year I finally became a member of the International Juggling Association.
Unfortunately, the IJA festival takes place July 28th - August 3rd, one week before Worlds (August 7th - 9th) so I won't be able  to come.  One day . . .
But it could be a great alternative for the US top spinners who cannot go to Prague. I hope you get a large group spinning over there.
