tutorials
« on: February 26, 2014, 01:34:13 PM »

I've noticed a lack of comprehensive tutorials. Being less experienced, I wish some of you expert spinners would make better tutorials (with text and speech and good break downs). Like the better yoyo tutorials. I think this would help a lot of newer or less experienced spinners. It might even help grow the sport. Just a thought. It would really be appreciated :). Also it would be nice to host them in one place :)

Hi, you're right, good quality tutorials are missing a bit. I'm planning to make some with my brother Daniel but I'm not sure when we finish them.

Probably best tutorials you can find here:
http://slusny.net/tutorials.html

of course it's not enough, just basic tricks.

More you can find here:
http://ta0.com/tricks/tricks.html
http://www.spintastics.com/SSTvideos.html
http://www.youtube.com/user/komanotaketyan/videos
http://www.tromposcometa.mx/galeriatrucos.html

Maybe you know the sites...maybe it helps you  :)

It seems that many of the best are in Spanish

Another thumbs up for - http://www.tromposcometa.mx/galeriatrucos.html
Most show 2 or more camera angles and slow motion.

Many tutorials by pulpowski are very good. Google "pulpowsky trompos" many show multiple camera angles including overhead.

The Spintastics DVD in not expensive and has good explanations.

Chris Neff has some good Regen info at http://vimeo.com/yophosis/videos.
and http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=chris%20neff%20top&sm=3

Yes it is a shame that the English word "top" has so many different meanings as to make google all but useless :(

I just googled spinning top and got 68 million possibilities.  The first page had a couple of helpful videos.

Chris,
For me, a few months ago, it would have been wire walkers. It took me forever to understand the trick. There are so many factors like tension, top lean at launch, tip shape, string, launch, landing, (I still struggle with landing), string handling for wire walker variants like short circuit and cable car, which tops make it easy to learn the trick, common beginner errors.

For me today, probably orbits, suns and related tricks. Or perhaps various under the leg tricks.  I need help on release and top orientation.

Ta0,
thanks for the new links.

Mr. Neff,
I agree with Kirk. Wirewalker tricks tutorials would be nice. I am also having trouble ending reverse corkscrew.

Thank you everyone for all of the responses.

The training videos from the spintop company Trompos Zenteya are at this youtube channel.  Not particularly better or worse than any others, just posting it to add them to the list.

Finding tutorials was/is a hurtle for me starting out.

Even just tuts on the trick latter would be great!
I found some videos of what the tricks are, but not with explanations of what is happening.
