Finger Spinners from Etikoppaka, India.
« on: May 20, 2013, 08:11:04 PM »

These beautiful finger spinners were given to me by my colleague Ramu.
THANK YOU Ramu!!!!  ;D

The tops are from Etikoppaka, India.
Etikoppaka is a small village on the banks of Varaha River in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.
The village is known for wood toys made with lacquer colors.

Here is an article with a bit more detail:

Nice!

Two of the tops look like tippy tops but on the video they don't show any sign of wanting to flip.

You are correct ta0.
Yes, they are resting in the photo, just catching their breath between flips.

Those are a nice collection of tops.  You have a really nice set of international friends!

How do the Tippy Tops spin once they have flipped with what looks like a rather large flat area?  Or is is concaved?

Also, the top middle top looks "boomerangable"  >:D

Yes, I am truly fortunate to have such wonderful international friends.  :)

Boomerangable…that will give me something to work on over the weekend.  I haven’t figured out how to wrap it yet.

I’ll post a video of a Tippy Top spinning upright as soon as it uploads to YouTube.

The flat area is actually slightly curved, here is a photo which I hope captures the curve…

Thanks for the video.

With the Boomeranging you will probably have to use beigoma or Ta0's Cuper Keychain (How do you wrap a Cuper keychain?) style.

Good Luck!
