n-O-ring.

My bad, I missed Mark's post describing the purpose of the o-ring. In this case, I think it will be fantastic.

I wonder if some of that "scratch n sniff" stuff could be added to give the true "flavor" of this wonderful top?

I'm thinking more like Willy Wonka's "Lickable wallpaper". The top half tastes like Jelly and the bottom half tastes like PB.

So I guess there wasn't a 3D printer at the conference?  I am really looking forward to seeing how things are progressing.  :)

It's killing me too. There were something like 7 printers at the conference, but only one was big enough to print the top, and it had just been built, so it wasn't working well enough yet. Right now we're stuck on a few CAD adjustments. Alan pointed out a couple of things we forgot about in the original design. The problem of course is that my CAD guy also has a real job, so I'm just waiting until he can squeeze in some top time.

While you are making adjustments, I noticed that the tip has a large mass of solid. These areas tend to warp with hobby 3d printers. Replacing some of the solid mass with ribs will reduce warp and raise the center of gravity.

I had several changes of heart about the name, but here's the final top design with a new exciting name! With luck I will have a prototype to play with at the RIT festival. There are grooves on the inside for added o-rings for weight if needed/desired. Chris made the pattern on the inside reminiscent of a circular saw blade to go with the new name. I can't wait to play with this thing!

I hope so. Unfortunately it's not going to be cheap, but I'm sure I'll sell a few.

It looks fantastic!  :o I hope you do have the prototype at RIT as I might be one of your customers  ;)

Decapitop because it loses the head?  Good idea, but it doesn't roll of my (clumsy) tongue. What about Top Off?  Topof (the Viking)?

The Decapitop is quite a top.  It does seem to have lots of possibilities as far as stacking and shipping......except for Mark's prototype.  The first edition of that top is quite heavy!  It is not made out of plastic but some other material.

It looks nice.  It was fun to throw.  It burns in the palm of my hand from the weight.  But, as Mark says, it still needs some tweaking.

Good luck with all of that, Mark.  You deserve to get some good results from all of your hard work.
