Now that I have tops again, I realize that my string callouses need rebuilding.  I consider grooves in my finger a great problem to have.

For temporary callouses put a drop of super glue on your finger and spread it out with a piece of paper. (without gluing the paper to yourself :) ) Let it fully dry!

Medical tape sometimes works as well.

These are yoyoer tricks I used while building up my callouses.
