well, i got my soda pop top from neff last week. this top is truely beautiful and a great playing top. i never learned how to use fixed tiped top before. i am goofing around with regens and a couple of easy tricks i already know. the trick i want to learn has the top dropped into a trapeze and then wire walks back up to the hand. i dont know what this trick is called but if someone has a video or tutorial for it i would appreciate it.

at around 2:36 they do a trick they call the 'escalera electrica'. Is that it?

Would the english name be 'escalator'? I've heard it called the 'elevator'.

The trick you describe seems to be in fact the Elevator. It is the 5th trick on Zenith patch award:

A big part of the trick is timing and patience to wait until the right moment to close the bind. The other key is to put the right tension.

The first time we saw a video of somebody doing it (a video filmed in a barber shop) we flipped over. Then we saw Gerardo do it (right after a teleférico!) I am not sure if the Soda is a good top for this trick, it may be too heavy. The Mexican tops are ideal.

Escalator is a different trick in which to top wire walks the string up a slope between the foot and the hand (Dale and Jon did that long time ago).

Sodatop will do normal wirewalks, but won't climb very well for tricks like that. I agree with ta0, a Mexican trompo.
