Love it.  Great pic!

That is my dream, to have a grandson and to be able to throw tops with them.

Wow!  :o At 14 inches it's a monster!

I doubt it will be under 5 lbs. Figaro, at 10" is significantly smaller but weighs 5.7 lbs.  :-\

I really hope it does not end as a flower pot. Anyway, don't put soil inside as I want to throw it!

Thanks for showing us the progress. Great work!

Tao, you said Rosie would not be three pounds and it's under. You know it can be a flower pot then when my Great granddaughter inherits it , it will become a BIG TROMPO.

I like to give you a challenge!  ;)
But remember that Eric's beautiful 12 incher, with very narrow walls, eventually shattered. Better heavier than dead . . .

That Ashley Harwood is phenomenal.  I watched some of her videos.  She is not afraid of going after a big project.  She could make one amazingly big top!!!

thanks for this work-in-progress video , Cecil !
it's very informative and gives the envy to go for larger pieces
but please , don't thin the walls too much  >:D

Eric's beautiful top was made like a vase with a big hole at the top. I think he was playing indoors and the top got away from him and hit the wall, and shattered. He also said that some areas of the top were only 1/4 thick. The big tops I make are segmented == a spider web of glue. And the wall thickness will be twice as thick. If it ever becomes a top I think any of you pros out there will be able to get a double body cork screw with it. I'm getting to old. In September I will be 73. GET A GOOD LATHE AND HAVE FUN.

I loved watching the video. I so wished I could have been there! At least I helped make it happen by putting you all in touch.
This reminds me I have not yet met in person neither Herman Lau nor you, Cecil.  :(
