There is only one week left and next weekend we are driving to the coast so I won't be able to work on it. Basically, I need to get it singing today and make the videos in the next few days. I am very happy with the top itself (bet you'll be impressed) but it is still pretty much mute

SirBoot32 will come this morning to pick up (and try) his Chinese whip top. Perhaps between the two we can brainstorm about this.

Is anybody else working on the contest?

yes i guess an electric drill as a launcher is acceptable
it makes it so much easier
for me the situation is at a stop: i haven't put back my workshop together yet
been messing with beer cans ,drilling holes in woodtops,etc with not much result
depending on the number of entries we could postpone the date once more
or not ....

We are leaving for the beach in a few hours so I will not have anything by Sunday's deadline. But nobody else has indicated they will either. Eric has been suspiciously quiet: I wonder if a fat delrin top is about to sing an opera?

So, will the deadline be extended? Two more weekends would work for me.

what has not changed is the awards

As always I am a procrastinator . . . I have not yet got my top to sing. Just a week and one day left!

The first two methods I tried failed miserably. But I have several more ideas to test.

i half-built a wire-top but it doesn't sing yet, would need a drill start for a primal scream

When exactly is the deadline (July 1st 23:59 Paris time? GMT+12?)
I have been working on mine all day. I think I am close to finding something that works but in a couple of hours I have to go out with wife.
