I have to prototype 4/5 inch top, steel and delrin. Over this size i think the tip is a bit small, but is possible to test, maybe Mr Neff or Mr Wolff can say something about this.

The largest top that I've made with the S8 tip is 4".  It works fine, but I don't think I'll try anything bigger.  While the small tip functions well, it looks odd; almost aesthetically unpleasing.  Also, the S8 tip limits the diameter of string that you can use and I like a thicker string (rope) with bigger tops..... ;D
With that said, when considering the question at hand, "who would buy a strummol 8 derlin top if it was a 3-4 inch and still used a s8 tip", I would buy almost anything that Maurizio decided to make.......and I would buy more than one....... >:D

The poll question:
Quote
who would buy a strummol 8 derlin top if it was a 3-4 inch and still used a s8 tip
should include a price to be an answerable question for most.  Who would buy a Ferrari?  Well, if the price is right . . .  ;)

Here is a 3" diameter top that I made by request for Shootist (member of this board and long time member of my "list"  :)  )  It is made out of sycamore knot, solid surface countertop material that looks kinda like a quartz, and some delrin that houses the tip.  I wouldn't make a top any bigger than 3" with the current S8 tip size.  This top is bottom weighted to shorten the length of string necessary and what not.

Chris, did a Wonderful Job on that SpinTop. The Top Spins Well and is Nicely Balanced. The picture does not do that SpinTop Justice. The Wood Texture and Finish are Truly Amazing. I am Honored to be the Proud owner of that SpinTop.  Thanks Chris for all your hard work and dedication.
