I would say clear the string earlier than you would think and when clearing the string pull hard. Clearing the string is when you pop the top up to catch it again. If you wait to long the top turns to much and you end up tangled in string. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the tip. It makes perfect sense..in my head.  Now to get my hands to co-operate.

Finally made a video for my Spintastics 8 trick patch.  Betsy said I looked pretty funny out in the front yard with all my spinning stuff.  Actually, I think the word she used was ridiculous.  I'm telling myself she meant my hat.  I wanted to get through all eight tricks without editing.  I ran through it three times without total misses, but plenty of sloppiness. I had four tops wound and ready to go.  The first top is a TG fixed tip for target, big scoop, Hackey top.  The second top is a QSH fixed tip for spinner, sky rocket, arm walker.  Third top is TG bearing for merry go round.  The fourth top is a Blizzard for crazy eight.

Nothing ridiculous or sloppy here!  Just a lot of good top spinning.  Great work!!!

Sometimes when I practice, I film it so I can see what I'm doing wrong.  I happened to turn the camera on when I was going through the tricks for the 16 patch, and hit every trick with no full misses.  (There's plenty of sloppiness, though.)  I wanted to go straight through, so I'm using 6 different Spintastics tops.  I don't really have a video editor, so I use the Windows photos editor.  It's pretty limited, but I managed to add captions, and some background music.  I hadn't really planned on this being my application video but I may just use it.  I hope to do a better video once I can get outside beyond my little 7 ft square space in our kitchen.
