I just thought of a fun idea for a non-traditional spin-top that we could all try and make...

1. Choose a firm fruit or vegetable from you local grocer or farmers market  (thinking a potato might work well)

2. Carve the vegetable into a spin-top.  (solid or hollow..get creative... use any tip)

3. Wind up and throw

4. Take a video or photo

5. Post here so we can all have a good laugh

Anyone up for it? 

It's been a while since I've spun a non-traditional spin-top.  I made one out of tin foil and duct tape once,  and I've also spun a Hershey's Kiss, beer bottle, x-mass ornament, and a kid in a snow disc ...I'm sure I've spun a good many other things as well but I'm sure I used a string for the things above.

when are you thinking, i mean, is there a time limit?  cuz i feel

Great video.  I never even thought about using a lathe.

This could be an ongoing thread, so whenever anyone has the time (or interest) they could whittle something up and spin it.  We could actually include any other non-traditional spinners in this thread.

There's no requirement to mix this activity with alcohol if you were thinking that you needed to be less than sober to participate   All ages welcome!
