I am being laid off Sept. 1

So this isn't intended as a sympathy-fetching thread, I just wanted it to be public knowledge that I will soon be available to tour the country... or any country... and make kids crazy about tops.  I'll be waiting by my phone.   :P

I got laid off Halloween 2008 but have been getting by on my meager skills.  A man of your many talents should do fine.

Sorry to hear that. In the short term it may suck but you never now the opportunities it will open in the long term. In 1996 I was debating if I should take the plunge to self employment (again) when a lay off notice made the decision easy. Haven't looked back since.

Nevertheless, you have my sympathy.  Seeing as you weren't fired, would you be eligible for unemployment?  That might help tide you over for a while at least.

April 1996 I was looking at no job and became That Yo-Yo Guy.  Bev had a job that gave us medical coverage so I could go independent and we have not looked back.  Of course there was a yo-yo boom just about to go wild but it has worked for us.  Even after the boom fizzled we did OK.  Our very best wishes for your future, what ever it may be.

Sorry to hear of the layoff.  It is a tough job market at the moment.  You will do well with tops and yo-yos I am quite sure. ;)

Yes, I too am very sorry to hear this.  From what little I know about the Neffster, you seem to be a pretty creative guy.  I'm willing to bet that you, like ta0 and Dick, find ways to bounce back stronger than ever.  Nevertheless, it still has to be a bit of a stunner.  I know I would be shaken.  We are one with you, though.  I know the whirled has been a better place since you have been around!

Besides being a bright, creative and talented guy, you're also very likable.  If you don't decide to venture out on your own, I'm sure some employer would just love to snatch you up.
