Has anyone done a "spin decay comparison"  of Maurizio's S8 or Giulia/Side Effect vs. other tops?
Similar to the Duncan BK and YYJ Gates comparison in the http://www.ta0.com/science/images/RPM_BK-Gates.gif  link.
It would be interesting to see some.

Well, last time I did that measurement (for the Throwback) I got very little feedback and it is quite a bit of work so I don't feel very motivated. Mmm, perhaps I should compare my Throwback in the present state with the old data, because that will probably explain what happened in the corkscrew challenge . . .

As far a measuring the mechanical properties of a top, my next project is to build a setup to measure the moment of inertia of tops. That would be something not yet done and interesting.

Yeah, the Giulia really impressed me at the corkscrew challenge.  It is difficult for me to throw it hard, especially while trying to manage a string that is two times too long... you see, the callenge is to get all the wraps in place before the spin is too weak too execute the trick.  I never had a problem running out of spin.

Takeshi did 10 wraps with a BK.  Mad Skills!!!

The S8 is very very very impressive.  I think it's comparable to the Gates top as far as spin decay.

I can't believe I did so well at the corkscrew contest.  I think my max before the contest was 4 or 5.  I never actually tried to do as many as I could.  In this case, I would agree with Neff.  Yes, my skills are most perturbed... or at least they were during the contest ;)

Taka san... try the new tip into one of your BK. Insert the tip as the plastc one, then the big spacer used between the bearings into my tops, then scre the nut. I think this can be a reasonable improvement for contest tops.

Im not going to be able to try this until late tomorrow night :(, after work, but im sure going to be thinking about it all day ;)
The outcome should be really interesting
