Button Vs. Finger Loop

I'm only a begginner at top spinning, but i prefere to throw with the string wrapped around my finger like a yo-yo string. Whenever I throw using a button I dont feel like it is secure enough, like I dont get as good of a spin. Will this impair my learning in the long run? Is their a lot of trick require that you free the string from you throwing hand?

If you have it attached to your finger with a slip knot while wrapping the string will twist a lot. On the other hand it is too cumbersome to put the finger in the loop every time you throw. You can use the button and still wrap the string one time around the index finger to have it more secure.

Thanks for the suggestion Ta0! I was playing around with different ways of holding the button, and my boomerangs are actually a LOT more controlled now

The only tops in which some times I loop the string into my finger, is when I played with the wooden tops.
I never played tops without using butterflyes.
I suggest you use all the time the buterfly (that is the name we used here to say"button")

A lighter button will help you to feel comfortable with it.
